November, 3-5, Second all-Russian trade-union youth forum was held in Samara. Among the questions discussed were: further development of trade unions in the country and youth participation in trade unions’ activities aimed at institutional strengthening in trade unions, development of social partnership, cooperation with socio-political groups and parties, international organizations, support for collective actions of solidarity, modernization of trade unions.

Delegates from 97 FNPR affiliates from 70 constituent entities of the Russian Federation took part in the Forum.

Summarizing the results of the Forum a Resolution was adopted (with one voice against and two abstainers).

«Youth choice – 2007»

In the recent years the realization of the youth policy have became one of the priority directions of activity of Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR).

There have been established the FNPR Youth Council, youth councils and commissions in affiliated organizations, which take an active part in trade-union activities.

As a result of the work conducted the youth participation in trade unions has grown. One third of trade union members are under 35.

On the whole the youth have formed an active civil position by now, but they do not always find support with the heads of trade unions.

We consider that the youth in trade unions cannot and should not be isolated. We are interested not only in youth problems, but also in all questions that are in the field of activity and interests of trade unions in general and a society as a whole. For more full participation in work our representatives should be integrated as members with a right to vote into all trade union structures.

We call young trade union leaders to raise qualification and to take an active part in elections in decision-making bodies of trade union structures at all levels.

We consider it necessary to develop and introduce criteria of an estimation of efficiency of activity of trade union organizations for carrying out certification of trade union officers.

Trade unions cannot stand aside of state policy, but in interaction with political parties they should adhere to the developed positions and not get under the influence of this or that party.

It is necessary to put forward and actively support candidates from trade unions in legislative bodies of the government and local self-governments.

We call everyone to take an active part in elections at all levels.

The future is after strong trade unions that are capable to protect effectively interests of their members and to enjoy their support and trust.

We are ready to work actively in trade union actions, not using them as an occasion for «trade union tourism».

We are ready to involve youth in trade unions and to promote formation of their active civil position.

We are ready to involve youth in discussion of burning problems of development of trade union movement.
